City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Services: Sidewalk and Transit Amenities Program (STAP)
Through this program, the City of Los Angeles will bring new and upgraded amenities and features to bus stops throughout Los Angeles, including accessible seating options and shade structures. Future amenities may include e-paper displays with real-time bus arrival information, Wi-Fi, phone charging stations and other features. After extensive community engagement, STAP will prioritize sites for improvement based on a variety of equity-driven factors, including high transit ridership, heat exposure, Metro’s Equity Focus Communities (EFCs), connections to key destinations for riders and bus routes with long wait times. STAP amenity costs will be funded through advertising partnerships.
Key Takeaways
- Funding for new bus stop amenities and amenity improvements can be self-sustaining through advertising partnerships.
