San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA): Muni Forward
This plan will provide sustainable and transformative change improvements to San Francisco’s public transportation system. The SFMTA has built over 90 miles of reliability improvements, such as a network of core routes to prioritize frequency on the busiest corridors and add new connections to the system. The improvements outlined in this plan are informed by customer feedback, the Muni Service Equity Strategy and ridership data. Other improvements featured in this plan include delivering transit to disadvantaged neighborhoods, safety for pedestrians and technology and infrastructure enhancements such as signage, maps and real-time transit information at stops.
Key Takeaways
- Muni Forward improvements are informed by customer feedback, ridership data and the Muni Service Equity Strategy. The Muni Service Equity Strategy delivers transit improvements to neighborhoods with high percentages of low-income households, people of color, low vehicle ownership rates as well as lines with higher rates of people with disabilities and seniors.
- Muni Forward is also prioritizing technology and infrastructure improvements through improved signage and expanded real-time information at stops.
